Namaste.. I am writing and doing the website and photos on behalf of Bhavesh Bhatia ;. He is blind and has learnt
the art of candle making at the National Association of the Blind (www.nabindia.org).. He now lives with his wife and
son
Bhavesh Bhatia worked for 13 years in Mahableshwar as a Hotel Manager ; during his last year of active work in
the hotel , he developed the problem of eyesight and was completely blind.( 2003) it was diagnosed as retina macular degenration
.. this was when his mother had just expired through cancer..
He learnt candle making from www.nabindia.org a national association for the blind. he had done the 4 month rehabilitation
course from 5th jan to 30 th april 2004 where he was taught things like phenyl making, incense making , candle making..
; he now makes candles for a living ;
Bhavesh as a young boy was active in sports&; he was hail and hearty&; he along with 2 other friends travelled
on bicycle all the way from his native place called Gondhia to Katmandu&; a distance of roughly 5000 km&; for which
he was given a certificate of merit; He was also a National Cadet Corps Officer ( NCC) and a cross country marathon runner
&;..
He has been given warm welcome , good support from society; namely rotary club , other local authorities and local public
;. one friend wrote an article which was published in a marathi daily saying he is a traveller&; ;his journey is from
darkness to light (Andharatun Prakashakade) ; he is a source of inspiration for us;.
Bhavesh Bhai usually puts up a display stall for exhibition and sale outside the church in the mahableshwar market ;.fellow
friends help him and stop by to say hi;.
